
Pozuelo Named to 2019 MLS Best XI

Toronto FC midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has been named to the 2019 MLS Best XI, the league announced Monday.
Pozuelo, 28, was signed by the Reds on March 4 as a Designated Player. The Spaniard appeared in 30 regular season MLS matches, registering a club-leading 12 goals and 12 assists. Pozuelo was named to the 2019 MLS All-Star Game where he earned a starting role against Atlético Madrid. In addition, he was named MLS Player of the Week for Week 8 and was named to the MLS Team of the Week five times. Pozuelo made his MLS debut on March 29 against New York City FC, scoring two goals and adding an assist in a 4-0 victory for the Reds.
In two matches during the 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs, Pozuelo has scored two goals and added one assist for Toronto FC.
Pozuelo becomes the fifth player in club history to be named to the MLS Best XI joining: Dwayne De Rosario (2009, 2010), Sebastian Giovinco (2015, 2016, 2017), Justin Morrow (2017) and Victor Vazquez (2017).
