Power Head Coach Tom Sermanni on San Jose: "San Jose is a very dangerous team, and we have to play hard for 90 minutes against them. It should be a fun and entertaining match."

Power Quotes:

Tom Sermanni: "I was very pleased. I was very pleased with the way we did our jobs in the second half."

"When you get situations like that where teams are desperate and they're swinging balls into the box and through bodies, there is a chance something will happen. So you're always disappointed by that. We did enough to win the game. We probably should have put the game away more than 3-1 before they came back into the game."

New York's Tiffeny Milbrett: "I am not going to lie and say that it has not been on my mind. It's been ridiculous the weight on my shoulders. It's something that as a forward makes you so angry. I've been carrying that around for almost two years. Now it's time to get more. It feels good."

"We let that slip away from us for sure. It's our fault."

Power Notes:

Stopping the Brazilians

The Brazilian trio of Sissi, Katia and Pretinha have accounted for four of the five game winning goals against the Power. Katia has three, while Pretinha has the other one.

Sermanni's Turn A Success

Power head coach Tom Sermanni did something no other Power coach has been able to do so far. Beat the CyberRays. The Power are now currently 2-5-1 against San Jose. Both wins have been under the guidance of Sermanni. Sermanni knows San Jose well, having coached them the past two seasons, before coming to New York.

Time For A Hat Trick?

It's about that time for Power forward Tiffeny Milbrett to record a hat trick. June has been her month, recording both of her hat tricks in it. Her first hat trick came against the Boston Breakers on June 22, 2001. Her second hat trick came against the San Jose CyberRays on June 15, 2002.

A Goal At Home

Tiffeny Milbrett finally scored a goal at home, a feat she hadn't done since July 26, 2001. She had gone 14 games without scoring at Mitchel Athletic Complex, before tallying against the Carolina Courage on June 28. Milbrett had gone 1393 minutes without a goal at home.

June Scoring Spree

The New York Power scored 11 goals in the month on June. But unlike the year's past, the Power don't have to count on Tiffeny Milbrett to score all the goals. The Power had eight different players tally in the month of June. (Margaret Tietjen, Emily Janss, Christie Welsh, Anita Rapp, Tammy Pearman, Krista Davey, Heather Beem and Tiffeny Milbrett).
