The Tampa Bay Rays have made the following moves affecting the roster of Double-A Montgomery prior to Monday night's game against Birmingham:
OF Pedro Powell activated from the Hudson Valley (Short-A) roster...INF Fernando Cortez placed on the Temporarily Inactive List [24 + 1]
Cortez is placed on the Temporarily Inactive List due to a death in the family. He is expected to be away from the team for three days.
The corresponding moves leave the Biscuits with the Southern League maximum of 24 active players. One player (Jason Perry) is currently on the Disabled List and one (Cortez) is on the Temporarily Inactive List.
