TONIGHT: The Potomac Nationals and Myrtle Beach Pelicans meet in the third game of a four-game series...Last night the P-Nats were swept in a doubleheader, losing the opener 6-1 and dropping the night cap 1-0...Potomac has a 2 game lead over Frederick in the Carolina League Northern Division.

TONIGHT'S STARTER: The Potomac Nationals trot out former first-round pick Ross Detwiler to the hill in tonight's contest against Myrtle Beach...The 22-year-old had perhaps his best professional start his last time out, working a career-high six innings and limiting the Kinston Indians to just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and no walks...His last outing marked the first time this season that he has not walked a batter this season...The Missouri State product has not had a lot of success at Pfitzner Stadium and is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in four starts at home this season...In contrast, he is 2-1 with a 2.31 ERA in three starts on the road...Teams are hitting .320 against him at the Pfitz and just .233 away from Woodbridge...For his career, Detwiler is 0-3 with a 7.27 ERA in five career starts at Pfitzner Stadium.

VIEW FROM THE TOP: Today marks the 34th consecutive day the P-Nats have been in or had a share of the division lead

since moving to the top spot on April 10...Last season the Nationals spent 31 consecutive days in first from April 5 through

May 5...The P-Nats ended the first half in last place, 10 games under .500 and only saw first place for one day, June 21, after May 5.

DOUBLE DROPPED: The Potomac Nationals were swept in yesterday's doubleheader managing only one run in 14 innings...The last double dip played by the P-Nats was April 29 when Potomac swept Winston-Salem, 1-0 and 3-2...The Nationals were swept twice last season in doubleheaders and split one.

SO CLOSE BUT NO-NO CIGAR: Deunte Heath came within a strike of no-hitting the Potomac Nationals yesterday...Francisco Plasencia singled up the middle on a 2-2 pitch to break up the no-hit bid...The P-Nats were nearly blanked in the hit column for the second time in two weeks as the club was no-hit by Winston-Salem in game two of a doubleheader on April 29 and still managed to win the game 3-2...Potomac would have been the first team in the Carolina League to get no-hit twice in the same season since the Kinston Indians in 1967.

PLASENCIA'S PRODUCTION: Outfielder Francisco Plasencia has been given the offense a jolt over his last four starts...After going 0-for-3 in his first few at-bats, the 23-year-old has stepped it up, going 7-for-15 (.467) with a double, stolen base, and three runs scored...He was hitting .282 with two home runs and six RBI in 21 games with Low-A Hagerstown at the time of his promotion to Potomac last week...Last season Plasencia hit .209 with a home run and 11 RBI with the P-Nats and .260 with a career-best 14 home runs and 38 RBI with the Suns.

HOMELESS: After getting swept in last night's doubleheader, the Potomac Nationals have lost four straight at home...The P-Nats lost the final two games of a four-game series with Frederick on May 3 and 4...Potomac has been outscored 23-9 over those four games...The club had won 21 of its last 22 at home dating back to last season including 14 straight.

STELLAR STARTS: The Potomac Nationals starters have been outstanding over the last turn through the rotation...Four of the five starters have lasted six innings and given the club quality starts...Potomac starters have allowed just three runs over their last 29 innings (0.93), limiting the opposition to just 17 hits while striking out 26 and walking only six batters...Unfortunately the club has not been able to take advantage, losing three of the five contests.

OFFENSIVE: The Potomac Nationals offense has struggled over its last five games, hitting just .221 over that span...The offense has scored 13 runs on 19 hits in the two wins while managing only two runs total on 14 hits in the three losses.
