Pothier, Kelly and Langfeld Return to Binghamton

September 23, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON - The Ottawa Senators assigned nine players to their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate and the Binghamton Senators signed another three to AHL contracts - defenseman Brian Pothier and forwards Chris Kelly and Josh Langfeld.

The nine players assigned to Binghamton's training camp, opening this Sunday, are goalkeepers Ray Emery and Billy Thompson; defensemen Jesse Fibiger, Andy Hedlund and Christoph Schubert; and forwards Denis Hamel, Pat Kavanagh, Brian McGrattan and Charlie Stephens.

Of these players, all were in the Senators system last season with the exception of free agents Fibiger and Kavanagh, who were signed this summer. Fibiger spent the last three seasons in the San Jose organization, playing mostly in Cleveland (AHL). For the past five seasons, Kavanagh has been in the Vancouver system, seeing most of his action with Manitoba (AHL).

Eleven of the 27 players on Binghamton's training camp roster to date played in the National Hockey League at some point last season while 16 played for the B-Sens in 2003-2004.

The Binghamton Senators' training camp opens on Sunday, Sept. 26 with medicals and physicals while on-ice sessions begin on Monday, Sept. 27. The club opens its five-game pre-season schedule on Saturday, Oct. 2, when they play host to the Syracuse Crunch at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.
