Beauchemin and Panzer Sign AHL Contracts with Syracuse

Syracuse, NY (September 23, 2004) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that defenseman Francois Beauchemin and center Jeff Panzer have signed American Hockey League contracts with the Syracuse Crunch.

Beauchemin, 24, appeared in 77 games with Hamilton (AHL) last season, recording 9 goals, 27 assists and 57 penalty minutes. In 264 career AHL games with Quebec and Hamilton, Beauchemin has tallied 27 goals, 65 assists and 281 penalty minutes. Beauchemin also appeared in one game with Montreal (NHL) without recording a point. A native of Sorel, Quebec, Beauchemin was selected by Montreal in the third round, 75th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.

Panzer, 26, has appeared in 210 AHL games over three seasons, recording 62 goals, 84 assists and 85 penalty minutes with the Worcester IceCats. The Grand Forks, North Dakota native appeared in 60 games last season, notching 14 goals and 39 points. Panzer was originally signed as a free agent by St. Louis on April 30, 2001, following a four year career at North Dakota (WCHA).

The Crunch's regular season home schedule begins on Friday, October 15, when the St. John's Maple Leafs visit the War Memorial at Oncenter for the Express Mart Opening Night. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a hand-clapper noisemaker, compliment of Express Mart.
