Worcester Tornadoes News Release
After only three games at the HIP the outlook is positive for the new Tornadoes ownership. With Thursday, Friday, and Saturday's attendance totaling over 7,000 fans the future looks bright for the Tornadoes organization.
On opening day fans witnessed Lieutenant Governor Tim Murray kickoff the 2010 season by throwing the first ceremonial first pitch of the year. Worcester Legend Gordie Lockbaum, no stranger to Fitton Field, also joined the Lieutenant Governor in throwing a ceremonial first pitch helping to celebrate the Tornadoes fifth year as Worcester's hometown team.
Thursday and Friday fans were treated to a magnet schedule giveaway sponsored by Charter Communications and Sunshine Landscaping Company. Friday night a sold out crowd of 2,943 fans were on hand for the first Friday fireworks display of 2010 produced by Atlas Fireworks and sponsored by Price Chopper.
Despite the National Weather Service's Tornado Watch Saturday evening, the game went off without a hitch and New England Patriots 2010 second round draft pick Rob Gronkowski started things off with a ceremonial first pitch.
The Tornadoes also unveiled three new on-field promotions and new additions to the concessions offerings at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
With more fun than ever ahead at the HIP it's a whole new ballgame for the Worcester Tornadoes. To purchase tickets, or for more information on upcoming promotions and events call the Tornadoes' Corporate Office at 508-792-2288 or visit www.worcestertornadoes.com.
