Colonials Clipped 3-1 by Quebec

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials fell to the Quebec Capitales 3-1 at Wahconah Park on Saturday evening, giving Quebec its eighth consecutive win.

Starter Matt White (1-1) suffered the loss in five innings of work, giving up two runs (unearned) on six hits, two walks and two strike outs. Reliever Ivan Rusova allowed one run, pitching two innings in his Colonials debut. Cory Shepherd finished the game with two scoreless innings for the home team.

Colonials' first baseman Jerod Edmondson (1-for-3, 2B, R) notched his team leading fifth double of the season and scored the only Pittsfield run on a Rafael Cabreja (0-for-3, RBI) RBI groundout in the seventh inning.

Quebec starting pitcher Dan Sausville (2-0) earned the win going seven innings, giving-up just one run on four hits, two walks and four strike-outs. Reliever Matthew Rusch (1) earned the save, dealing the two perfect innings with four strike-outs to close out the game.

Capitales' left fielder Alex Nunez (2-for-5, 2RBI) led the way offensively for the visitors driving in a pair of runs, while designated hitter Jeremy Hunt (0-for-2, R) scored the final Quebec run on a wild pitch.

The Pittsfield Colonials (3-7) wrap-up the four game series with the Quebec Capitales (9-1) on Sunday afternoon at 2:05pm. Lefthander David Qualben takes the mound against the Capitales' Michel Simard.
