Stockton Ports News Release
The Stockton Ports beat the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes 5-1 in the rubber match of the series, improving their record against southern division teams to 22-5.
Ports starter Rob Gilliam earned the win, his 12th, to tie San Jose starter Craig Westcott for the league lead in wins. Gilliam pitch 6.2 innings, giving up just one run, a solo home run to Angelo Songco (24) in the fourth inning. Lefty Jake Brown, making his first appearance from the bullpen after pitching from the starting rotation for most of the season, went 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Offensively, it was Ryan Lipkin (2-for-4) and Rashun Dixon (2-for-4) combining for four of the Ports five runs on the evening. Lipkin and Dixon hit back-to-back doubles in the third to drive in two runs, and again in the fifth to drive in two more. Petey Paramore drove in the fifth run for the Ports in the third inning.
The Ports have an off day before heading down south to face off against the High Desert Mavericks in a four-game set.
