Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release
Stockton, CA - The Stockton Ports shut held the Quakes in check on Tuesday night, taking the rubber game of the three-game series with a 5-1 win at Banner Island Ballpark.
One day after putting up 14 runs and 18 hits, the Quakes offense was limited to just one run on five hits with Angelo Songco's solo homer accounting for the Quakes' lone run.
Stockton starter Robert Gilliam (12-5) allowed just one run on four hits over 6 2/3 innings.
Quakes' starter Andres Santiago (6-4) gave up three in the third and two more in the fifth, as the Ports chased him after only 4 2/3 innings.
The Ports got two-out run-scoring hits from Ryan Lipkin and Rashun Dixon in the third, building a 3-0 lead.
Songco's team-leading 24th homer of the year pulled Rancho to within a pair at 3-1 in the fourth.
Stockton got two-out hits from the combo of Lipkin and Dixon again in the fifth, as each knocked in a run to make it 5-1.
That was enough for the Ports, as Jacob Brown followed Gilliam out of the bullpen in the seventh and retired seven of the eight hitters he'd face to wrap it up.
The Quakes (24-21, 62-53) head home for a seven-game home stand, which kicks off on Thursday against Bakersfield. Aaron Miller (2-2) will take on Blaze righthander Mark Serrano (4-7) in the series-opener on Thursday night at The Epicenter. Game time is 7:05pm.
Thursday is another Buffalo Wild Wings Thirsty Thursday. Game time is 7:05pm. Tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com.
