Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

Several Winterhawks players leave this week for NHL training camps. The list of players leaving is as follows:

Oliver Bjorkstrand, Columbus Blue Jackets

Brendan Burke, Phoenix Coyotes,

Anton Cederholm, Vancouver Canucks

Adam de Champlain, Vancouver Canucks (free agent invitee)

Garrett Haar, Washington Capitals

Taylor Leier, Philadelphia Flyers

Brendan Leipsic, Nashville Predators

Nic Petan, Winnipeg Jets

Derrick Pouliot, Pittsburgh Penguins

Six other players from last year's team will also be in NHL camps: Seth Jones with the Nashville Predators, Ty Rattie with the St. Louis Blues and Tyler Wotherspoon with the Calgary Flames. Last season's three 20-year-olds who are no longer eligible for the Winterhawks will also be in camps: Mac Carruth with the Chicago Blackhawks, Taylor Peters with the Dallas Stars and Troy Rutkowski with the Ottawa Senators.

The Hawks went 2-1 in preseason play this weekend in Everett, with the trio of Brendan Leipsic, Nic Petan and Alex Schoenborn leading the way with five points each. The team was outstanding on special teams going an incredible 8-16 on the power play, while killing nine of 11 penalties. The Hawks will wrap up exhibition action this weekend with a pair of games in Kennewick, WA.

The 2013-14 season opens in 17 days when they host the Prince George Cougars at the Moda Center in a championship celebration, with six banners being raised to the rafters.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

The Friends of the Winterhawks golf tournament is tomorrow at The Reserve Vineyards & Golf Club's South Course beginning at 1 p.m., with a dinner including the entire team following the event.
