Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

- The WHL Playoffs open this weekend, with the Hawks taking on the Kelowna Rockets in the first round. The full schedule for the series is as follows:

Game 1 - Friday, Mar. 23, 7:00 PM Kelowna at Portland (Veterans Memorial Coliseum)

Game 2 - Saturday Mar. 24, 7:00 PM Kelowna at Portland (Veterans Memorial Coliseum)

Game 3 - Tuesday, Mar. 27, 7:05 PM Portland at Kelowna

Game 4 - Thursday, Mar. 29, 7:05 PM Portland at Kelowna

Game 5 - Saturday Mar. 31, 7:00 PM *Kelowna at Portland (TBA)

Game 6 - Monday, Apr. 2, 7:05 PM *Portland at Kelowna

Game 7 - Wednesday, Apr. 4, 7:00 PM *Kelowna at Portland (Veterans Memorial Coliseum)

It's a rematch of last year's second round series Portland won in six games. This season, the Hawks won all four matchups:

11/04/11 - Portland 6 @ Kelowna 5 (SO)

11/05/11 - Portland 3 @ Kelowna 1

01/11/12 - Kelowna 2 @ Portland 4

01/13/12 - Kelowna 1 @ Portland 2

- In the four games against Kelowna this season, Ty Rattie led the Winterhawks with four goals and five assists for nine points. Four players added four points each in the season series: Sven Bartschi (in two games), Joe Morrow, Derrick Pouliot and Brad Ross. The Rockets were led by four points apiece by Zach Franko and Brett Bulmer.

- Mac Carruth was outstanding in goal against Kelowna, winning all three starts he made against the Rockets, and coming into net for the shootout in the Nov. 4 game and earning the win in that one. His goals against average in the season series was 1.33 and his save percentage was 96.2%.
