
Portland to Select Ninth Among WHL Clubs at CHL Import Draft

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Western Hockey League announced today the order of selection for WHL Clubs at the 2021 CHL Import Draft taking place on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. PT. The Portland Winterhawks will be the ninth WHL Club to select in this month's draft.
The Portland Winterhawks currently have three European players protected in forward Simon Knak, defenseman Jonas Brøndberg and recently acquired goaltender Jesper Wallstedt.
Knak, listed 86th overall among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting, enjoyed a breakout season during his second year in the Rose City, totaling a team-high 16 goals and 13 assists for 29 points in 24 games. The Zurich, Switzerland native was named Winterhawks co-MVP following the abbreviated 2020-21 WHL Regular Season.
The Winterhawks anticipate making at least one selection in the upcoming CHL Import Draft. The overall CHL order of selection will be released at a later date.
