Four runs came around to score for the Sea Dogs in the top of the first inning against Rumble Ponies starter Jose Chacin. Both teams went scoreless until the fifth inning. Portland brought in one run with Chacin still on the mound. Nick Sogard led off the inning with a triple. Christian Koss hit a sacrifice fly to right, plating Sogard, and expanding Portland's lead to 5-1.

Stephen Scott drove in Sogard with a base hit, increasing the deficit to 7-1. Koss and Potts singled, loading the bases for Reed, who unleashed a grand slam. It was his sixth homer of the season, his first grand slam of the year, and widened the advantage to 11-1.

Binghamton drove in one run in the bottom of the seventh. Zach Ashford, Cody Bohanek, and Matt Winaker all walked to load the bases. McIlwain hit a sacrifice fly to center, bringing in Ashford, making the score 11-2.
