Hartford Yard Goats News Release
Manchester, NH- Brenton Doyle homered for the fourth time in five games, and Aaron Schunk belted his league leading 24th double to highlight a five-run first inning, as the Hartford Yard Goats defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 10-5 on Monday night at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. Schunk's two-run double made it 3-0 and gave him 53 RBI which is tied for the most in the Eastern League. Hartford starter Mitch Kilkenny hurled six solid innings, allowing just two runs on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts for his second win. Jimmy Herron went 0-3 with a sacrifice fly and walk but had his 8-game hitting-streak end. Hunter Stovall had three hits, as the Yard Goats took the first of a six-game series in New Hampshire.
The Yard Goats got off to a great start and scored five runs in the first inning off Fisher Cats starter Adam Kloffenstein. Hartford loaded the bases with two singles and a walk and Hunter Stovall scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch. Hartford added two more runs in the sixth inning on RBI's by Montano and Herron and it was 8-1. The Fisher Cats scored a run in the sixth inning, and Trevor Schwecke smashed a three-run homer in the eighth to make it 9-5 but that's as close as the Blue Jays affiliate would get.
