Portland, ME - The Portland Pirates will host a Star Wars™ Night game on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., when they take on the Providence Bruins, one week before the highly-anticipated release of the next chapter of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The Pirates will wear special jerseys during the game that feature a Stormtrooper design from the Star Wars films.

The Pirates will be releasing a limited number of special 2 and 4 packs to this game with prime seating accommodations on portlandpirates.com today. There will be family-friendly Star Wars activities and features throughout the night.

"In addition to exciting hockey on the ice, the Portland Pirates have the constant goal of providing fun, family entertainment for its fans throughout the year" said Pirates' COO, Brad Church. "Arguably, nothing is more synonymous with "fun" and "family" than the Star Wars franchise. We felt that, with the excitement of the movie coming on the following weekend, the timing is right to have our first-ever Star Wars night here at the Pirates, as well as raise funds for a great local charity through the Portland Pirates Foundation".

The jerseys worn by Pirates players in the game will be auctioned off after the game online to benefit the Special Olympics of Maine. It is anticipated to be one of the team's most active jersey auctions ever.

Limited sponsorship opportunities are now available for this event, for info, contact Pirates VP of Sales, Jim Beaudoin at jbeaudoin@portlandpirates.com.
