Pollorena Gets Run Support in Lemurs Victory

Laredo, TX - One big inning at the plate and a superb outing by starting pitcher Luis Pollorena helped the Laredo Lemurs (33-28) beat the Wichita Wingnuts (37-24) 5-0 on Saturday night at Uni-Trade Stadium. 

Lemurs starting pitcher Luis Pollorena (5-1) led the charge for his club and buckled down against a scrappy Wingnuts offense. Pollorena went six and two thirds without giving up a run on five hits with one walk and five strikeouts. Pollorena retired the side in order three times on the night at and caught a hot liner that came back up the box to save a base hit off batter Leo Vargas in the third inning.

The Lemurs offense came in the third as the team put together four doubles and a single with Wichita starter Omar Bencomo (5-1) also issuing a walk to give the Lemurs five runs in the inning.

Other than the third inning, Bencomo pitched well, going six complete innings and giving up five runs on eight hits with a walk and six punch outs in a losing effort.

The Laredo Lemurs will host the Wichita Wingnuts for in the finale on Sunday at 6:00pm at Uni-Trade Stadium.
