May 4, 2023 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Cedar Rapids RoughRiders News Release

Eric Pohlkamp, a 19-year-old defenseman for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, has been named the best defenseman in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the 2022-2023 season. Pohlkamp, who was born in Baxter, Minnesota, has been a standout player for the RoughRiders this season, helping lead them to a successful year.

Pohlkamp's impressive season statistics speak for themselves: he played in 59 games, scored 16 goals, and had 35 assists for a total of 51 points (at the time of this articled). His offensive contributions have been crucial to the RoughRiders' success this season, but it is his work on the defensive end that has truly set him apart as a standout player.

Pohlkamp's defensive skills are exceptional, and he is known for his ability to shut down opposing players and prevent them from scoring. He is also an excellent skater, with great speed and agility, which allows him to quickly move the puck up the ice and make plays on offense. The USHL is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States, and winning the award for best defenseman is a significant achievement for any player. Pohlkamp's win is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and skill on the ice.

As Pohlkamp looks towards the future, he has a bright career ahead of him. He has already committed to playing college hockey at the Bemidji State University.

Congratulations to Eric and all of the named and nominated players of the USHL.
