Fresno Grizzlies News Release
FRESNO, CA - The Fresno Grizzlies will host a celebration of mistakes, both big and small, on Saturday night when they take on the Portland Beavers at Chukchansi Park. Friday the 13th kicks off an enormous weekend in downtown Fresno that includes Pobody's Nerfect Night on Saturday, and a Father's Day celebration that is packed with activities from the moment the Park gate's open at 1:05pm.
Nearing the end of a particularly grueling portion of the schedule (24 home games in 33 days), the Grizzlies are launching a pre-emptive strike on what is sure to be a woeful performance by the front office staff this weekend. Saturday is Pobody's Nerfect night, a celebration of mistakes big and small, and there's no telling what could go wrong.
Fans that purchase tickets at the Chukchansi Park box office could accidentally receive a seat upgrade, prizes will be awarded in the crowd for errors on the field, there will be a celebration of the greatest mistakes in baseball history throughout the night, and who knows when the 7th-inning stretch will roll around? One thing that is sure to be executed just as planned is the Car Sunshade Giveaway, presented by Akeena Solar, to the first 2,500 fans in the Park.
"Our fans might not be able to completely relate to a player that hits a home run, steals a base, or throws a curveball on the corner of the plate, but everyone can identify with a mistake, it's universal," said Grizzlies' Vice President of Marketing Scott Carter. "It's been a long stretch for us and while we'd love to promise a flawless performance every night, but hey, Pobody's Nerfect."
Sunday, June 15th is Father's Day, and the Grizzlies have an entire day of fun planned for fathers and their children at the Park. When the gates open at 1:05pm, SpikeTV presents a Father/Kid catch on the Chukchansi Park field before the game. Additionally, the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a fishing pole, courtesy of Dasani, giving families something to do when the Grizzlies are on the road.
Like all Sundays, selected Grizzlies players will be available on the Chukchansi Park concourse for autographs before the game thanks to ABC30, and kids, as always, will get the opportunity to run the bases following Sunday's game thanks to Del Taco.
The Grizzlies look to finish off a four-game sweep on the Colorado Springs Sky Sox tonight at Chukchansi Park before opening a series with the Portland Beavers on Friday the 13th. For information regarding tickets, promotions, or Grizzlies' baseball, visit fresnogrizzlies.com or call 559.320.HITS.
