Howard- Making second start of the season (Allowed 1 R on 5 H over 5.0 IP in 6/07 ND vs. ALB) Rowe-
Making fifth spot start of the season (#4= 6 R on 7 H over 4.0 IP in 6/03 10-4 loss vs. OMA) LAST GAME:
Oklahoma tallied eight runs off Nashville's Jeff Weaver on the way to an 8-6 win Wednesday afternoon. John Mayberry hit three doubles and drove in two runs, while Ryan Roberts and Travis Metcalf each had a pair of hits and a pair of runs batted in. Matt Harrison notched his first Triple-A quality start and win, pitching six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. The RedHawks have won all seven games against Nashville this season.
BEEN THERE, DONE THAT:
Chris Davis is riding a six-game hitting streak entering his next game. The first baseman is hitting .429 over his last six contests with nine hits in 21 at bats. Davis has also reached safely in 12 straight games, a streak that dates back to game two of the May 30 doubleheader at Omaha. Davis tied the California League record with a 35-game hitting streak last season and had on-base streaks of 16 and 20 games for Frisco earlier this year.
HURLEY UP:
Eric Hurley has his contract purchased by Texas earlier today and made his Major League Debut against Kansas City. Hurley pitched six innings, struck out three, allowed home runs to Alex Gordon and Mike Aviles, and left with a no decision. The Rangers filled Hurley's roster spot by outrighting Elizardo Ramirez to Oklahoma. Ramirez made one appearance for Texas, allowing nine runs on eight hits over 2.2 innings in a June 4 loss at Cleveland. Ramirez will start Friday against New Orleans, replacing Kason Gabbard, who is listed as Saturday's starting pitcher for Texas in New York against the Mets.
ON THE SPOT:
Steve Rowe is making his fifth spot start of the season for the RedHawks tonight. The right-hander is 0-1 as a starter this year, and Oklahoma has gone 1-3 in games he has started. Rowe's earned run average as a starter is 4.50, a number that was increased due to his last start on June 3 against Omaha. Rowe allowed five earned runs over four innings. Subtract that start and Rowe's ERA as a starter is 1.64. Oklahoma's offense has backed Rowe with an average of 2.25 runs per game during his spot starts this season.
NASHVILLE AT A GLANCE:
Vinny Rotino's 20-game hitting streak is the longest active streak in the PCL, just four shy of Iowa's Andres Torres season-high 24 game streak... Tony Gwynn doubled in the first inning yesterday to extend his on-base streak to 19 games, dating back to April 19... Laynce Nix homered Wednesday to extend his road on-base streak to 15 games, the third longest current road streak in the league.
AROUND THE ORGANIZATION:
Texas beat Kansas City 11-5... Frisco fell to Midland 5-2... Bakersfield lost at Stockton 5-4... Clinton dropped a 3-1 decision to Kane County.
DOT-DOT-DOT:
The RedHawks have won three straight for the first time since May 19, 20, and 22 when they swept three games from New Orleans at the Brick... Texas signed pitcher Joselo Diaz and assigned him to Frisco. Diaz pitched for Oklahoma in 2006, and was recently with New Orleans before the New York Mets released him... The RedHawks have outscored the Sounds 43-22 through seven games this season, having won all seven.
TIME CHANGE:
The RedHawks have announced a time change that differs from what is listed on pocket schedules and previously printed tickets. Oklahoma's game with Round Rock on Monday, June 23 at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark is now a 7:05 pm first pitch.
