Madison Capitols News Release
MIDDLETON, Wisc. - The first round of the 2024 Clark Cup Playoffs are set, and the Capitols are set to travel to Youngstown to face off against the Phantoms. The trip to the playoffs is Madison's second over the past three seasons.
The playoff action will start on Monday night in Youngstown at the Covelli Centre where Madison went 2-1-0-0 this season. The first round will continue on Tuesday and then onto Wednesday if the best-of-three requires a third game.
Whichever team wins the first round match up between the Capitols and Phantoms will face Dubuque in a best-of-five series. That series would start either on Friday or Saturday, which depends on the ending of the MAD/YNG series. With the series against Dubuque being a best-of-five, games three and four, if necessary, would be at the winner of the Capitols and Phantoms series.
With the team missing out on the playoffs last season, only six Capitols have USHL playoff experience heading into the series with the Phantoms. Those players include Austin Burnevik (3 GP), Chris Delaney (9 GP), Ethan Elias (4 GP), James Hong (9 GP), Brendan Lamb (14 GP), and Nathan Tobey (3 GP). Brendan Lamb is the only player still on roster from the 2022 Eastern Conference Championship run for Madison.
