VS. HITMEN : The Tigers and Hitmen open up their second round series tonight in Game 1 in Medicine Hat despite the Tigers being a lower seed during the regular season. The Tigers won the series 4-2-0-0 during the season, with the Hitmen taking the last 2 games by 2-1 and 4-1 scores. Trevor Cox led all active Tigers in scoring with 8 points in 5 games played against Calgary.
TONIGHT'S MATCHUP:
The Hitmen on the road during the regular season were 22-10-1-3, the best record in the Central Division Adam Tambellini currently leads all WHL players in playoff scoring with 15 points in 7 games The Hitmen have allowed 26 goals in 7 games (3.71 per game) and scored 33 goals (4.71 per game) in the first round

LAST GAME: In Game 5 against Red Deer the Tigers had an opportunity to eliminate their opponent. The teams would exchange goals in the opening frame as Cole Sanford potted home his 4th of the postseason on the power play. Red Deer answered with a goal from ex-Tiger Riley Sheen. Medicine Hat would come back once again after a Steven Owre unassisted goal, followed by a Colton Bobyk blast to tie the game at 2 after 20 minutes. The clubs would once again exchange goals in the 2nd period; an early power play marker by the Rebels gave the visitors a lead. But before the buzzer sounded Owre would strike again tying the game heading into the third. In a tight final period, the Tigers would get the break as Trevor Cox came down the wing and wristed a puck off the post and in with a minute and 46 seconds remaining to win the game and eliminate the Rebels in 5 games.
HOME ICE: The Hitmen won the Central Division but they will have to start in Medicine Hat for Game 1 of this series due to conflicts with the Saddledome. Now, the Hitmen will have to start out on the road in a building where they haven't had the most success, sporting a 5-9-1-0 record over the past 5 seasons. Overall the Tigers had the most home victories in the Central Division during the season and 2nd best in the WHL.
