Game Story
The Wheat Kings opened the scoring midway through the first period as Duncan Campbell found himself all alone in front with plenty of time to find an opening to tuck the puck by Daniel Wapple. Brandon added to its lead early in the second when Tim McGauley tipped a Tyler Coulter pass into the goal. The Pats got back within one before the halfway point of the period when Taylor Cooper made a great move to slide the puck around defenceman Eric Roy and goaltender Jordan Papirny. Before the frame was out, the Wheat Kings restored their two goal lead as John Quenneville finished off a three-on-one chance. Looking to get back into the game in the third, the Pats were leading the shots 6-2 early, but the Brandon offence came back to ice the game. Ivan Provorov raced in and picked the top corner past Wapple's glove. Minutes later, Jayce Hawryluk put the finishing touches on by walking around the net before putting the puck just under the bar for the 5-1 final.
