TONIGHT'S GAME

The South Carolina Stingrays host the Adirondack Thunder for a decisive Game 7 of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Semifinals this evening. Entering tonight's game, neither team has won back-to-back games in the series. Both clubs are coming off 4-1 series victories in the opening round, with South Carolina beating #7 Kalamazoo and the Thunder topping #3 Manchester. The two teams met three times during the regular season with South Carolina posting a 1-1-1-0 record versus the Thunder.

GAME 6 RECAP

The South Carolina Stingrays earned a 4-1 victory over the Adirondack Thunder in Game 6 of the Conference Semifinals last night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Stephan Vigier had two goals and Kelly Zajac had three assists. The game featured 120 penalty minutes, including 98 in the third period of play. The Stingrays outshot the Thunder 30-19 and scored three power play goals in the victory.

GAME 7 HISTORY

For a number of returning players on the Stingrays' roster, Game 7's are nothing new. During the 2015 Kelly Cup Playoffs, the club skated in three Game 7's, posting a record of 2-1. The Stingrays earned a series victory over Reading in Game 7 in the opening round and topped Toledo in triple-overtime in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Joe Devin had three goals in those two contests, including the 1-0 overtime goal versus Toledo to send the Stingrays to the Kelly Cup Finals. All-time, South Carolina is 3-1 in Game 7, while this is the Thunder's first Game 7 in team history.

HOME ICE ADVANTAGE

The Stingrays will look to use the home crowd to propel them to victory tonight. The Stingrays won 21 home games in the regular season and are 4-1 in the playoffs on home ice.

SPECIAL TEAMS BATTLE

South Carolina finished with the top penalty kill and fourth-best power play in the regular season. That success has carried over into the postseason and played a large role in this series. The Stingrays have scored seven power play goals in the series and are converting at 25% on the man-advantage. The Stingrays penalty kill has only surrendered three goals despite being shorthanded 40 times, denying 92.5% of the Thunder power play chances.
