Allen Americans Celebrate Series-Clinching Win over the Missouri Mavericks

Independence, Missouri - The Allen Americans defeated the Missouri Mavericks on Tuesday night by a score of 5-1 to win the series 4-2, and advance on to the Western Conference Finals against the Fort Wayne Komets.
The Americans jumped on the board first in the opening period, as Chad Costello scored on the power play at 9:21 of the opening frame from Greger Hanson and David Makowski. Missouri would tie the score late in the period when Ross Johnston knocked one home for his third of the playoffs.
Allen would regain the lead early in the second, when Casey Pierro-Zabotel put a rebound past Josh Robinson for his fifth of the playoffs. and the Americans second power play goal of the game. Pierro-Zabotel's goal would turn out to be the game winner for Allen. The Americans would put the game away in the third period as Greger Hanson scored his 7th and 8th of the playoffs and Dyson Stevenson netted his first of the postseason as the Americans beat Missouri 5-1 to win their second straight series.
"Right through our lineup, starting with Riley Gill and Chad Costello," we played a great game, said Americans Head Coach Steve Martinson. It was a big win for our hockey club."
The ECHL's top power play in the postseason was on their game tonight going two for four with the man-advantage. With the victory, Americans goalie Riley Gill, becomes the all-time postseason leader in ECHL history with his 44th wins.
