Altoona Curve News Release
ALTOONA, Pa - The Altoona Curve announced on Wednesday a brand new marketing ini- tiative that plans to encapsulate the entire fan experience at Blair County Ballpark.
Beginning immediately, the Curve will launch their "Curve, PA" program which aims to bring awareness to the fun, affordable, exciting, memory-making and family-oriented themes that have been prevalent in the region for the last 11 sum- mers.
"The Altoona Curve is a team and brand that many in the region take a great deal of pride in," said General Manager Rob Egan. "This organization means quite a bit to them and in turn our fans mean the world to us. Through this initiative, branding a Curve game as its own unique experience in its own, unique world is appropriate because it's grown so much over the years and has become part of the fabric of our sum- mers."
With the launching of the new campaign, fans will experience a plethora of fun, creative artwork around this theme, a new jingle that will be heard in all radio and television marketing, on radio broadcasts, and at Curve games in 2010 and beyond.
The premise behind "Curve, PA" is to market and brand Blair County Ballpark and the entire Curve experience as a place on the map that fans can go to escape the everyday grind and harsh realities of the real world. The Curve experience and Blair County Ballpark has be- come a "home away from home" for many during the summer - or its own city within a city. With a versatile marketing campaign that can appeal to fans of all ages, branding the ballpark and its environment as Curve, PA will further implement a sense of pride that already exists.
"Everywhere you go, it's not uncommon to see a Curve poster hanging up in a restaurant, a fan wearing a Curve hat or an Altoona Curve jacket." Egan added. "Drive down the street and you'll find a car with a Curve license plate, or a yard sign proudly displayed in front of their home."
"It's hard to imagine, but there's already a generation of kids who've grown up with the Altoona Curve," said Egan. "It's a testament to the fans and the corporate community for making this work for the first 11 years. As we head in to our second full decade, it's im- portant to keep the hometown pride in their team and allow fans to have a personal stake in the franchise."
The theme of "Curve, PA" will be seen in every medium and project the Curve implement. The 2010 promotional calendar will feature a list of Curve, PA-themed giveaways such as magnet schedules, posters, and baseballs. There are also plans for a daily "Curve, PA" comic, a blog with regular updates, and artwork throughout the ballpark that gives it the identity of being its own city.
