Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
Muskegon, MI - Rem Pitlick scored two goals and notched one assist to help lift the Muskegon Lumberjacks to a 4-3 victory over the Tri-City Storm.
The Lumberjacks started the first period with a lot of energy, outshooting the Storm 10-6 in the first 20 minutes of play. The Lumberjacks were able to capitalize a couple times, starting with Trevor Hamilton, who gave the Lumberjacks a 1-0 lead, when he ripped a bullet from the blue-line. Pitlick and Matej Paulovic registered the assists on the goal. The Lumberjacks took a 2-0 lead, when Pitlick scored a second effort rebound goal. Collin Adams and Derek Daschke assisted on the goal.
Early in the second period the Storm cut the Lumberjacks lead in half, when Joe Cipollone scored to make the game 2-1. The Lumberjacks quickly responded when Pitlick received a pass from Adams, and netted his second of the game, and tenth of the season, to give the Lumberjacks a 3-1 lead.
The Lumberjacks started the third period with an insurance goal. Will Graber blasted a rebound in for his third of the season, while Laine McKay and Bo Hanson recorded the assists to help give the Lumberjacks a 4-1 lead. Late in the third period, the Storm forwards Wade Allison and Carson Meyer scored to cut the deficit to one, but the Lumberjacks held on to pick up the 4-3 win. Lumberjacks goaltender Devin Cooley registered 30 saves in his first career USHL win.
It was the Lumberjacks seventh win in nine games, as they finished (7-2) in the month of November.
The Lumberjacks (9-8) will look to continue the success, with a pair of games in the upcoming week. The Lumberjacks will travel to Youngstown on Wednesday for an early morning game at 10 am. Then on Saturday, December 5th, the Lumberjacks will host the U17 United States National Team Development Program. It will be the Lumberjacks Teddy Bear Toss game, so be sure to make it out to L.C. Walker for a fun filled Saturday night. The puck will drop at 7:15 pm.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud members of the United States Hockey League, the nation's only Tier I junior hockey league and the leading producer of NCAA players and National Hockey League draft picks in the United States.
