Bradenton Marauders News Release

BRADENTON, Fla. - For the second straight night, the Marauders were unable to overcome an early deficit, and fell to the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, 10-2, on Wednesday night at LECOM Park.

The game was called after seven innings due to inclement weather. The resulting 10-2 loss was the most lopsided of the season for the Marauders (19-22).

Valentin Linarez (0-4) labored through three innings on the mound for Bradenton. The right-hander allowed a single, a walk, and a Keoni Cavaco two-run double in a 29-pitch first inning, and after a scoreless second, surrendered a two-run homer to Emmanuel Rodriguez in the third.

Mighty Mussels (27-13) starter Mike Paredes (1-1) held the Marauders to two runs over five innings, striking out a career-high seven and scattering three hits.

Rodolfo Nolasco gave Bradenton its only runs on a two-run homer in the fourth inning that trimmed the deficit to 4-2. Nolasco now has five RBI in his last two games.

The Marauders, however, would not score again, and the Mighty Mussels grew their lead in the fifth, when Cavaco launched a grand slam to right field off Carlos Lomeli, and Daniel Ozoria added an RBI-single. Lomeli also allowed a run-scoring single to Mikey Perez in the sixth, and the righty finished with a career-high six runs allowed over two innings.

Neither team scored in the seventh inning before the tarp was placed on the field for the remainder of the evening.

Rehabbing Pirates right-hander Nick Mears struck out the side in order in the fourth inning, his lone inning of work on his first rehab outing for Bradenton.

Left-handed reliever Samuel Perez held the Marauders scoreless over two innings behind Paredes, striking out three and allowing no hits.

Wyatt Hendrie went 0-for-3 at the plate for Bradenton, ending a career-high 11-game on-base streak.

Cavaco went 3-for-6 with a career-high six RBI for Fort Myers, finishing a triple shy of the cycle.

The series continues Thursday with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at LECOM Park. RHP Po-Yu Chen (0-3, 5.40 ERA) will start for the Marauders against LHP Steve Hajjar (1-1, 2.70 ERA) for Fort Myers.
