Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

Winston-Salem, NC - The Hillcats recorded double-digit hits for the fourth straight night but only scored three runs for the second game in a row. Fortunately, Arodys Vizcaino, Dimasther Delgado and Andrew Wilson combined to limit the Dash to three hits and just one run as the Hillcats won 3-1 Thursday night.

Winston-Salem scored first in the bottom of the fourth. Jared Mitchell hammered a ball off the wall in right center, scoring Jose Martinez all the way from first base. It was 1-0 Dash after four frames but not for long.

Adam Milligan doubled and Joey Terdoslavich singled to begin the top of the fifth inning for the Hillcats. With runners at first and third and nobody out, Joe Leonard grounded into a 5-4-3 double play scoring Milligan from third base and tying the game 1-1. It was the third of four double plays hit into by the Hillcats on the night.

Lynchburg took the lead in the seventh. L.V. Ware and Braeden Schlehuber doubled back-to-back with two outs, putting the Hillcats up 2-1. Milligan added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly to left in the eighth. It was 3-1 Lynchburg, with just an inning and a half to play.

After the RBI double from Mitchell in the bottom of the fourth inning, Delgado and Wilson combined to hold the Dash hitless for the remainder of the contest. Delgado walked the very next batter after Mitchell, and the next 18 Dash batters went down in order as the Hillcats took game one 3-1 over Winston-Salem.

Delgado (2-3) pitched six innings, allowing one run, on three hits, walking one and striking out a season high six on his way to the win. Wilson struck out one in two perfect innings of relief and earned his second save of the season. Dash starter Terry Doyle (0-4) suffered the loss, giving up two runs on nine hits in seven innings of work.

The series between the Dash and Hillcats continues Friday night at BB&T Ballpark in Winston-Salem at 7:00 PM. RHP Zeke Spruill (1-2, 2.25) will start for Lynchburg against RHP Andre Rienzo (0-0, 2.36) for the Dash. The Hillcats On-Deck Show powered by Honda/Suzuki of Lynchburg will go on the air at 6:40 PM.
