
Pitching Leads Grizzlies to Another Exhibition Victory

O'FALLON, MO - Justin Dunning recorded an RBI single to break a tie in the sixth inning and the Gateway Grizzlies held on to defeat the River City Rascals 3-1 in an exhibition game Friday at T.R. Hughes Ballpark. The win was the second in as many days for the Grizzlies.
Dunning and Harold Brantley drove in two of the Grizzlies three runs. Gateway scored their other run in the fifth on a River City throwing error.
Jerod Yakubik had three hits, while Jonathan Johnson enjoyed a multi-hit game.
Pitching was solid once again for Gateway. Tim Brown got the start and surrendered just a solo home run in three innings of action. Richard Barrett tossed two scoreless innings, while Travis Ruppel, Logan Mahon and Paul Tremlin all pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
Gateway returns to action Saturday afternoon with their second home exhibition game. The Grizzlies take on River City at GCS Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
