Pitching Dominant in 2-1 Thunder Win

TRENTON, NJ - Trenton pitching did not allow a hit after the second batter of the game- recording 27 consecutive hitless outs- in a 2-1 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Thursday morning.

Nik Turley allowed a first inning triple to leadoff hitter Kevin Pillar and then a base hit to John Tolisano for a quick 1-0 Fisher Cats lead. He would not allow a base hit over the rest of his six-inning outing which would include a season-high eight strikeouts and his third win of 2013.

The lone Thunder runs of the game came in the 5th inning in front of 5,306 at ARM & HAMMER Park. Catcher Nick McCoy made an immediate impact in his Thunder debut, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, a run and an RBI. In the 5th inning with two outs McCoy doubled to left field to drive home Casey Stevenson to tie the ballgame. Ramon Flores followed with a double of his own for a 2-1 lead and the game-winning hit.

The Thunder hit the road for a three-series Friday at 7:05 p.m. The game features RHP Zach Nuding (0-3, 2.81) for Trenton against RHP Craig Westcott (1-2, 4.37) for the Flying Squirrels. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:50 p.m.
