New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
TRENTON, NJ - Deck McGuire worked six innings of four-hit ball and John Tolisano had an RBI single, but the Fisher Cats dropped the finale of the seven-game roadtrip 2-1 in Trenton on Thursday.
The Fisher Cats (12-16) opened a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Kevin Pillar tripled and scored on a single by John Tolisano. But New Hampshire would be held hitless for the remainder of the game.
Trenton (15-12) erased the early deficit by putting together three consecutive two-out hits against Deck McGuire (1-3) in the bottom of the fifth inning. Casey Stevenson singled ahead of back-to-back doubles by Nick McCoy and Ramon Flores to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead.
McGuire allowed the two runs on four hits, he walked one and struck out six. Tommy Hottovy worked two scoreless innings, getting out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the bottom of the eighth inning without allowing a run.
Nik Turley (3-1) allowed one run in six innings for Trenton. He allowed two hits, walked three and struck out eight batters. Tommy Kahnle worked two scoreless innings and Branden Pinder retired the side in order in the ninth for his third save.
New Hampshire finished the roadtrip to Reading and Trenton with a 3-4 record.
