
Pirates Sign RB Jimmie Robinson

The Massachusetts Pirates have signed former Bethune-Cookman standout Jimmie Robinson for the 2023 season. Robinson, who was a two-time FCS All-American and All Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference selection as a wide receiver and kick returner, is expected to play running back in Massachusetts.
Robinson, (5'8", 180 lbs.) wowed NFL scouts with his 4.28 time in the 40-yard dash and was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2019 with the Cincinnati Bengals. He took part in their rookie-minicamp.
A Native of Palm Coast, FL, Robinson began his collegiate career at Mercer University in Macon, GA in 2015 where he played in 11 games, making seven starts as a wide receiver and kick returner. That season he was a Southern Conference All-Freshman Team selection. He would later transfer to Bethune-Cookman University.
In 2018 he found the Daytona Beach, FL school to his liking and had an impressive season, leading the Wildcats in scoring with 68 points and all-purpose yards with 1,512. Robinson led the MEAC in all-purpose yards and kick return yardage (730). His kick return average of 33.2 yards was fourth in the nation. Against Howard, he established a single-game record for the Wildcats with 202 kick return yards while returning two for touchdowns in that game. At the end of season he earned MEAC All-Conference and FCS All-American honors.
In 2019 he followed that up with 39 receptions for 468 yards and four touchdowns while adding another 880 yards on 33 kickoff returns. That season his best day returning kicks was against the Miami Hurricanes when he had six attempts for 103 yards with a long of 43. His best receiving day was against Morgan State with five receptions for 136 yards and three scores. At season's end, Robinson was an FCS All-American, a MEAC First-Team All Conference return specialist and an All-Conference Second-Team offensive selection.
Robinson finished his career at Bethune-Cookman with 59 receptions for 753 yards and eight touchdowns. He accumulated 536 rushing yards on 63 carries with four scores and returned 55 kickoffs for 1,610 yards with four touchdowns. He also returned three punts for 38 yards.
