Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release
Davenport, 5'11", 190 lbs., will be seeing his first game action, in the Indoor Football League, with the Wranglers. Davenport brings heavy indoor football experience to Northern Arizona from other leagues. Davenport most recently played in the National Arena League (NAL), with the Carolina Cobras, in 2022, and the New Jersey Flight in 2021. One of Davenport's most notable accomplishments, in his professional career, was earning a spot on the Second Team All-NAL squad. Davenport accomplished this milestone, in 2017, with the Monterrey Steel. Davenport also won an Arena Bowl championship with the Washington Valor, of the Arena Football League (AFL), in 2018. This championship victory was alongside Wranglers offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Rod Windsor, during Windsor's last season as a player.
Before Davenport was Second Team All-NAL, he began his career in 2014 with the Alabama Hammers of the Professional Indoor Football League. Davenport played the following season with the New Orleans VooDoo, of the AFL, in 2015. Davenport spent his collegiate football career at the University of North Alabama, which is in Florence, Ala., from 2008 to 2011.
Davenport is originally from Troy, Ala., where he attended Charles Henderson High School. Davenport attributes his inspiration to start playing football to just wanting to get involved in sports, and coming to realize that he might be pretty good at football. Davenport stated, "I had no idea how good I was at football until I was in middle school and high school. I started getting letters, and recognition for my play, and I just stuck with it." Davenport developed a love for football when he originally envisioned himself playing basketball.
Davenport discussed what continues to drive him to play today, as he said, "I have accomplished a lot without an agent, but I know that I can do more." Davenport also expanded by discussing his hunger for being a Champion. Davenport said, "I want to win more Championships, and prove that I can do it again in another league."
When addressing Wranglers Nation, Davenport stated, "I will always put in the work, and I am coming to the Wranglers because I want to compete for another Championship." Wranglers head coach Les Moss expressed that he has wanted to coach Davenport for a long time. Davenport also expressed mutual respect when he said, "I have always wanted to play for coach Moss, it just hasn't worked out in the past with timing." Davenport looks to help the Wranglers run it back with another National Championship.
