
Pirates Sign Miller to Professional Tryout Contract

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have signed forward Greg Miller to a Professional Tryout Contract.
Miller, a 5-foot-11, 197 pound forward from Toronto, Ontario, joins the Pirates from the Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL. The 25 year-old currently has the third most points of the any ECHL player this season. He has scored 13 goals, 14 assists, and 27 points in 23 games.
In his rookie season in 2013-14, Miller scored 21-30-51 in 52 combined ECHL games with the Stockton Thunder (35 games), and Bakersfield Condors (17 games). Miller also played 16 playoff games with Bakersfield last season on their run to the ECHL's Western Conference Final. In that time, Miller notched 3-4-7 for the Condors.
Miller also played in 13 AHL games last season, nine with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and four with the Oklahoma City Barons. He picked up two assists and two points, both with Oklahoma City.
An undrafted free agent, Miller played four seasons of NCAA Division I Men's Hockey with the Cornell University Big Red. In that time, he played 129 games, scoring 34-64-98. He was named ECACHL Best Defensive Forward and a conference Third Team All-Star in 2012-13, his senior season. Miller was named an All-Ivy League Second Team All-Star in 2011-12. He led the Big Red in points in each of his last three seasons.
Miller will be eligible to play his first game for the Pirates this Friday night when Portland hosts the Manchester Monarchs.
The Pirates return home this Friday for Game 4 of the VIP Cup Series, presented by VIP Tires & Service, against the Manchester Monarchs. It's the Pirates annual Teddy Bear Toss.
