
Pirates Sign DL Marcus Webb Jr.

Defensive lineman Marcus Webb Jr. returns to Massachusetts for the 2024 season. Webb joined the Pirates prior to their playoff game last season against the Sioux Falls Storm.
In 2023, Webb Jr. was also in camp with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League this season. The 6'3", 240 lb. product of Decatur, AL has NFL experience. In 2020, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL. That year he was placed on injured reserve and remained with the organization through May of 2021.
Webb Jr. played collegiately at Troy University. In four seasons with the Trojans, from 2016 through 2019, he appeared in 48 games making 78 tackles including 20.5 tackles for a loss. He had 11.5 sacks, forced one fumble, recovered another and blocked two kicks. In 2017 and 2018, Webb Jr. received All-Sun Belt Conference Honorable Mention honors. Some of his signature moments were forcing a fumble in a 2018 win over Nebraska and recording two tackles and a sack in a victory over Buffalo in the Dollar General Bowl. In 2019, he had a three-sack game against Georgia Southern.
