
Pirates Recall Melindy from Gwinnett

Saco, ME - The Portland Pirates today announced that they have recalled defenseman James Melindy from their ECHL affiliate, the Gwinnett Gladiators.
Melindy, a 6-foot-3, 195 pound defenseman from St. John's, Newfoundland, rejoins the Pirates after being assigned to Gwinnett on December 6. While with the Gladiators, Melindy played 47 games and scored two goals and seven assists for nine points. He also connected 69 penalty minutes.
The 21 year-old second year pro played nine games with Portland this season before his reassignment, collecting eight penalty minutes.
In his rookie season with Portland last year, the Arizona Coyotes 2012 Third Round draft selection scored two goals for two points in 38 games. Melindy made his pro debut with Portland at the end of the 2012-13 regular season, playing in two games.
Melindy will rejoin the Pirates in time for their home game this Friday at Cross Insurance Arena against the Hershey Bears.
The Pirates continue their home stand and put their seven-game winning streak on the line when they host the Hershey Bears this Friday and Saturday night at Cross Insurance Arena.
