December 26, 2022 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Massachusetts Pirates News Release

The Massachusetts Pirates have started building up their offensive weapons for the 2023 season by bringing back one of the team's most productive wide receivers last season, Darren Carrington. This is Carrington's third season with the organization and has been a major contributor over the last two seasons with the Pirates.

During the 2022 season, the 6'3", 205 lb. wideout appeared in 14 games reeling 49 receptions with 649 yards with 12 scores. His best performance came during Week 16 in Sioux Falls where he made 9 receptions and racked up 130 receiving yards with four scores. Carrington was a key component on offense during the 2021 championship season appearing in nine games. The Oregon alum recorded 11 passes for 101 yards with three touchdowns. In the IFL playoffs, Carrington appeared in two games and helped the Pirates win the United Bowl with one reception for four yards in the 37-34 overtime victory over the Arizona Rattlers.

Before joining the Pirates, Carrington signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League and was a member of their practice squad. Prior to joining CFL, Carrington attended the 2018 NFL Combine and signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dallas Cowboys in August, spending the preseason with the team before being released as part of the final cuts prior to the start of the regular season.

During his collegiate career, Carrington played three productive years at Oregon and one season at the University of Utah. In 2017 at Utah he played in 12 games and had 70 receptions for 980 yards (averaging 14 yards per catch) and six touchdowns earning second-team All-Pac 12 honors for the second time in his career. Before transferring to Utah, he was a two-time All-Conference selection at Oregon over 33 games and caught 112 passes for 1,919 yards with 15 touchdowns. Carrington was a standout in the Rose Bowl for the Ducks, (the National Semi-Final game) catching seven balls for 165 yards and two touchdowns of 56 and 30 yards from Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota in a 59-20 win over Florida State.

Carrington looks to replicate his dominant play during his time with the Pirates and help the passing attack be once again highly ranked in the league.
