Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

Turber-Ortiz, 5'10", 190 lbs., will be playing his first year of professional football with the Wranglers this coming season. Turber-Ortiz is coming off an extremely impressive career at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Turber-Ortiz notched 303 total tackles (195 solo), in his four seasons for the Golden Bears. Turber-Ortiz was a key contributor in the Kutztown secondary, as he also recorded 15 interceptions, 22 passes defended, 10.5 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one sack.

Turber-Ortiz was a three-time member of the ALL-PSAC (Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference) First Team squad. In the lone season that Turber-Ortiz did not receive that recognition, he was named to the ALL-PSAC Second Team. Turber-Ortiz was named a Preseason All-American, and earned the PSAC Defensive Player of the Week on four occasions in his career at Kutztown. Turber-Ortiz was earned a spot on the Don Hanson Football Gazette All-Super Region Third Team, and was on the watch list for the Harlon Hill Trophy (an equivalent to the Heisman of Division II football).

Turber-Ortiz was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, before his parents relocated to Northumberland, Pa., when he was five-years-old. Turber-Ortiz was inspired to play football by his family, who would watch football every Sunday, and enjoy the game as fans. Turber-Ortiz started playing football when he was in third grade, and has not stopped playing the game since.

Turber-Ortiz names his family as his continual inspiration to play the game. Turber-Ortiz explained that he wants to be able to provide for his family and give back.

Turber-Ortiz stated that he is "excited for the opportunity to continue playing football, and to do so in front of the fans in Northern Arizona." Turber-Ortiz also expanded by stating, "I want to help continue this Championship run and repeat."
