
Pirates Look to Snap Streak in Final Game in Lewiston

Lewiston, ME - The Portland Pirates will play their final game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Wednesday night as they take on the Albany Devils. Puck drop is 7 PM for the 4th and final matchup of the season between the two teams. Albany leads the season series 2-1.
The Pirates earned a point in their last game, dropping a 3-2 shootout decision to the Norfolk Admirals. Chris Rawlings made 26 saves in net and Lucas Lessio tied the game with his team leading 28th goal of the year with just 5.8 second left, but Portland was unable to score in overtime of 6 rounds of shootout action. Brett Hextall had the other Pirates goal. The shootout loss extends the Pirates' winless streak to 8 games.
Albany is on a 3 game winning streak, last defeating the Syracuse Crunch 4-0 on Sunday. Reid Boucher scored twice and Chris McKelvie and Reece Scarlett both added tallies in the victory. Scott Wedgewood registered his 4 shutout of the season, stopping 20 shots.
The Pirates and Devils last faced off on March 7th, a 4-3 shootout win by Albany. Jordan Martinook scored early and Brendan Shinnimin and Tobias Rieder added third period tallies to tie the game, but eh Pirates were unable to get the extra point in overtime or the shootout. Mark Visentin made 32 saves in 65 minutes played in the defeat.
The Pirates received reinforcements from the Coyotes after their season ended on Saturday night. Defensemen Brandon Gormley and Connor Murphy and goaltender Mark Visentin were reassigned from Phoenix. The Pirates also received Tyler Gaudet, from the Coyotes, who will wear number 44 and will likely make his professional debut tonight.
Tonight is the last game of the year at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee as the Pirates will play their final game in Saco at MHG Ice Centre. The Pirates have played in front of over 100,000 fans at the Colisee over the last two seasons. The Pirates will return to the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland next season for all 38 home games.

Colisee Crowd: This is the final Pirates game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee tonight, their 43rd game at the Colisee over the last two seasons. A rowdy crowd will help the Pirates get motivated and send Lewiston/Auburn fans home happy.
