
Pioneers rally for 10 runs in final 2 innings for 14-7 win

The Elmira Pioneers broke a 4-4 tie with 4 runs in the 8th and added to their lead with 6 runs in the 9th in a 14-7 victory at the allentown Ambassadors Tuesday night. The victory extends Elmira's win streak to 7 straight, their longest of the season.
Brandon Pernell broke the tie with a 2-run double off reliever Ryan Lindley and Ron Busgh added a 2-run double to left-center to complete the 8th inning scoring. Pernell had already singled to begin the ball-game to stretch his hitting streak to 24 games, the longest in the league this season. In the 9th, Rolando Bello cleared the bases with a 3-run double to deep LF. Bello finished with a team high 4 RBI's on the night. Rafael Alvarez added a 2-run double in the frame.
Every Pioneer had at least 1 hit in the game and every starter scored at least one run. Elmira has accumulated 10 or more hits in 8 straight contests.
Justin Stine (7-5) got the win working 7ip, 8hits, 4er, 2bb, 3k's. stine allowed Allentown to climb back into the game with 3 runs in the 6th to tie the score at 4-4. Rooke RH Brad cook allowed 3 runs in the 9th as Allentown closed the deficit.
Elmira just needs to win 3 of their remaining 5 gams in the regular season to assure themselves a spot in the post-season. The Pioneers would a 5-game playoff series at New Jersey on Wednesday, Sept 4 if they make it in.
Jackson Crowther (0-1) starts against John Lunney (5-8) in game 3 iof the 4-game road-trip Wednesday night at 7:05.
The Pioneers wrap up the regular season at home Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Fan Appreciation Weekend vs. the Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs.
