Springfield Cardinals News Release

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Cardinals lefty starter Tyler Pike allowed just a single run over 6.0 innings, but Springfield's bats were shut out by the Arkansas Travelers in a 4-0 loss on Tuesday night in front of exactly 4,000 fans at Hammons Field.

Pike struck out five batters without issuing a walk. The Travelers managed five hits off the lefty, with their only run coming via a second-inning groundout that would hold up for the game's final 7.5 innings.

Cardinals LF Nick Plummer extended his on-base streak to 23 games with a third-inning leadoff double. Plummer finished the game 1-for-3 with a walk.

The Travelers pushed three runs home in the seventh off Cardinals RHP Johan Quezada. Quezada is the first player in Springfield Cardinals history to pitch for the team at Hammons Field with a last name beginning with the letter "Q."
