August 26, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (59-72) dropped the series finale to the Buffalo Bisons (66-66) by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park.
Trailing 3-2, the Pigs had the bases loaded with one out in the seventh, but Buffalo RHP Ryan Tepera (1.0 IP, 2 H, BB, 2 K) was able to fan Russ Canzler (2-4) and get Kelly Dugan to ground to short and end the inning.
Jon Berti's two-run shot off of IronPigs starter Anthony Vasquez in the top of the seventh gave the Bisons a 3-2 lead that they wouldn't relinquish. It was Berti's second home run of the season.
Vasquez (7-7) allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits while walking four and fanning a pair in 6.2 IP.
In the bottom of the second, the Pigs plated a pair of runs to grab an early 2-0 lead. Gabriel Lino knocked home a run with an RBI double and later scored on Chase d'Arnaud's RBI infield single.
Bisons starter Scott Copeland (11-4) gave up the two runs (one earned) on six hits to go along with two walks and a strikeout over six innings of work. RHP Steve Delabar (2.0 IP, 4 K) got the final six outs to notch his first save of the year.
Buffalo cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the fifth as Jonathan Diaz drew a one-out walk, moved to second on a single and came home on a throwing error charged to Pigs 2B Tyler Henson on what would have been an inning-ending double play.
Chris Heisey's solo shot in the top of the ninth off of RHP Colton Murray (1.0 IP, H, R, ER) extended the lead for the Herd to 4-2.
Jordan Danks (2-4, 2B) also had a multi-hit game for manager Dave Brundage's squad.
RHP Nefi Ogando (1.1 IP, H) had a scoreless outing in relief for Lehigh Valley.
The Pigs will begin a three-game, two-day set at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a doubleheader on Thursday. First pitch of game one is set for 5:35 p.m. as LHP Jesse Biddle (2-3, 5.85) will be on the bump for manager Dave Brundage's squad against RailRiders RHP Kyle Davies (9-7, 3.52). Game two features a starter yet to be determined for the IronPigs against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre LHP Chaz Hebert (1-0, 1.80).
