Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Team Canada's World Junior Selection Committee announced today that Charlottetown Islanders captain Pierre-Olivier Joseph has been named one of the 34 invitees to Team Canada's 2019 World Junior Selection Camp.

"I'm really honoured to be invited to camp." said the Arizona Coyotes prospect.

Joseph has put together a stellar season in Charlottetown following a stint at the Coyotes training camp prior to the season. Through 24 games this season, the 6'2 defender has 7 goals and 20 points, good for ninth among all QMJHL defensemen.

While being nominated is exciting, Joseph says that the work has just begun.

"You still have to go [to selection camp] and battle for a spot." said Joseph. "It's a short period of time that you're there; you have to prove yourself from the first day you're there until you've hopefully made the team."

The Team Canada National Junior Team Selection Camp, presented by Sport Chek, will take place in Victoria, BC from December 11th to 14th. The camp will feature a three-game series against a team of U SPORTS all-stars. The 2019 IIHF World Junior Championships will take place in Vancouver from December 26th to January 5th, 2019.
