Blast Selects Two Players In 2004 MISL Dispersal Draft
The Baltimore Blast selected two players in Wednesday's MISL dispersal draft of former Dallas Sidekicks players. The dispersal draft took place Wednesday afternoon after the League announced earlier this month that the Dallas Sidekicks will sit out the 2004-05 season. The Blast had the eighth pick in each of the draft's eight rounds and selected forwards Patrick Shamu and Beau Brown in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Title Defense will Begin in San Diego on October 9
The 2003 and 2004 MISL Champion Baltimore Blast will begin its title defense on Saturday, October 9 in San Diego against the Sockers. The Blast will face the Sockers again the following weekend in the team's home opener on Saturday, October 16 at 1st Mariner Arena.
Season highlights include a banner-raising and ring-presentation ceremony on October 16 before the Blast's home opener, four games against the expansion Chicago Storm and four matches against the Milwaukee Wave, Baltimore's opponent in the 2003 and 2004 MISL Championships. Keeping with the Baltimore Blast tradition of affordable family entertainment, fans will be treated to various promotional items throughout the season including replica jersey T-shirts, soccer balls and bobbleheads. The team will host a variety of theme nights including Boy and Girl Scout night and two free post-game concerts, featuring the popular Christian performers Jeremy Camp and the David Crowder Band. In addition, the Blast will host a "Blast from the Past" night to celebrate the franchise's 25 seasons in Baltimore. The team will also induct additional members into the Hall of Fame.
