Phillies Triple-A Drops Spring Opener, 9-8

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad (0-1) dropped their Spring Training opener to the Blue Jays team by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday afternoon at the Carpenter Complex in Clearwater.

SS J.P. Crawford (2-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R), INF Angelo Mora (2-4, 2B, R), 2B Jesmuel Valentin (2-4, 2B, 2 R) and Andrew Pullin (2-2, HR, RBI, R) all had multi-hit games as part of a 15-hit attack for the Phillies team. C Jake Fox (1-2, HR, RBI, 2 R) also delivered a solo home run.

Crawford-ranked as the top prospect in the Philadelphia system according to Baseball America-spent the majority of the 2015 season with Double-A Reading where he hit .265-5-34 with 21 doubles and seven triples in 86 G. The Long Beach, Calif., native also appeared in 21 G with Clearwater (A+), hitting .392-1-8.

RHP Gregory Infante (1.0 IP, H), LHP Ken Roberts (1.0 IP, H, K), LHP Joely Rodriguez (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) and LHP Anthony Vasquez (1.0 IP, H, BB) all tossed scoreless innings in relief for the Phillies squad.

Infante pitched with Buffalo (AAA) in the Blue Jays system for most of 2015, going 1-2 with a 2.77 ERA and seven saves in 45 G. The right-hander also appeared in 6 G with New Hampshire (AA) and was 0-1 with a 5.63 ERA and one save.

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad will hit the road on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to take on the Pirates Team at the Pirate City complex in Bradenton.
