Reading Fightin Phils News Release

Reading, Pa. -- The Phillies pounded 13-hits Friday afternoon at FirstEnergy Stadium in a 7-6 comeback victory over the Harrisburg Senators. Seven of the hits went for extra bases.

But it was Joe Thurston's two-out infield single to deep short that scored the winning run in a two-run eighth inning. The tying run also came with two out, when Jesus Merchan scored from first on Javon Moran's double to right. The speedy Moran came across easily on Thurston's hustle play.

The Phillies had scored single runs in the first and fourth innings, the first on Matt Padgett's RBI double, the second on Jason Hill's RBI double.

The Senators tied it in the fifth. Devin Ivany opened the inning with a line single to center, the Senators' first hit off Matt Maloney, who threw 87 pitches over five innings and appeared to tire at the end. Seth Bynum, who had one home run last year in 332 at-bats, got one into the jet stream that was blowing to right-center, and matched his 2006 homer total.

The Phillies (2-0) went ahead 4-2 in the sixth, Mike Costanzo leading off with his second homer in as many games. As he did on Opening Day, Branden Florence came off the bench and delivered a key hit, this time an RBI single that extended the lead.

The Senators (0-2) put up four runs off veteran relievers Ryan Cameron and Chris Key (1-0) for a 6-4 lead. Padgett's home run, which bounced off the top of the fence in right, cut the lead to a run in the seventh and set up the go-ahead inning.

Moran, Thurston, Padgett and Costanzo each had two hits for the Phillies. Anderson Garcia earned his second save with a 1-2-3 ninth.
