Philadelphia Wings Add Eight Players to Roster at 2020 NLL Entry Draft

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Philadelphia Wings selected eight players during the 2020 NLL Entry Draft, conducted for the first time as a Virtual Event, on Thursday, September 17. The team bolstered their defense with the additions of five defenders including Jackson Suboch (16th), Bryan Costabile (34th), Marc Pion (59th), Jack Rapine (61st) and John Kit (74th). Forwards Dylan Foulds (35th), Ben French (51st) and Cole Williams (85th) rounded out the roster and were each NCAA Division I standouts. A graduate of Upper Dublin High School, Ambler, PA's Jack Rapine was selected by the Wings in the 4th round to play for his hometown team during the 2021 season.
"The Philadelphia Wings were able to add some impactful players through a very balanced draft, both on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor," said Philadelphia Wings Head Coach and General Manager Paul Day. 1st Round (16th Overall) - Jackson Suboch, University of Massachusetts/The Hill Academy
Defense - 6-5, 215lbs

Started over 75% of all collegiate games at UMass...recorded 56 groundballs and 38 caused turnovers during his career... Helped UMass rank first in the CAA in caused turnovers per game (9.71) and man-down defense (.767), which also ranked ninth and 15th across NCAA Division I, respectively...Member of the Mimico Minor Lacrosse Association for Upper Canada College...Member of the Canada Lacrosse U19 Team at the FIL Men's World Championship.
2nd Round (34th Overall) - Bryan Costabile, University of Notre Dame

Earned three Academic All-Big Ten honors... Ranked fourth in the Big Ten in shot percentage (.462) and ranked ninth in the Big Ten in man-up goals (2) during senior year. Junior year ranked ninth in the Big Ten and 50th in the nation with 2.39 goals per game...Was second in the conference and 12th in the nation with seven man-up goals...Finished 12th in the Big Ten and 90th in the nation with 3.11 points per game...Ranked third in the conference and 17th in the nation in shot percentage (.443).
3rd Round (51st Overall) - Ben French, University of Vermont/IMG Academy
Forward - 6-2, 195lbs

Captained the team as a senior and started all four games at attack... Finished senior season with seven goals and four assists for 11 points... Added nine ground balls and a caused turnover in 2020. As a junior, earned Second Team All-Conference honors after leading the Catamounts in goals and with a career-high 29 tallies ... Started all 15 games and tallied a career-high 38 points in 2019... America East All-Conference Second Team (2019)... America East All-Rookie Team (2017).
4th Round (59th Overall) - Marc Pion, Johns Hopkins University/IMG Academy
Defense - 6-0, 200lbs

A member of the Harvard Crimson Lacrosse team in 2016 before transferring to Johns Hopkins to play for the Blue Jays where he played in 14 career games as a short-stick defensive middie... Ranked as the #51 freshman in the nation by Inside Lacrosse in 2016... Ranked as the #13 freshman defenseman in the nation byÃÂ Inside LacrosseÃÂ in 2016... Under Armour All-American (2015) as a senior at IMG Academy and a US Lacrosse All-American (2014) as a junior...Two time team captain for the IMG National Team.
4th Round (61st Overall) - Jack Rapine, Johns Hopkins University/Upper Dublin High School

Under Armour All-American as a senior in high school and a two time participant in the UA Underclass Games.

Started all six games on attack during senior season... ÃÂ Led the team in points (17) and assists (6) and tied for the team lead in goals (11). Selected for Second Team All-Big Ten for the second consecutive year as a junior... Academic All-Big Ten selection for second straight year (2019)... Honorable Mention USILA All-American (2018)... Honorable MentionÃÂ Inside LacrosseÃÂ All-American (2018)... Second Team All-Big Ten and named to Big Ten All-Tournament Team (2018).
OFF-SEASON MOVES
The off-season saw the Wings make several key moves in signings and transactions, including the acquisition of top 5 NLL goal scorer and Drexel University graduate Ben McIntosh from the Saskatchewan Rush in exchange for forward Josh Currier. The Wings signed one of the biggest free agent forwards on the market, seasoned veteran Corey Small, who is expected to add even more firepower on the left side of the floor. NLL save leader Zach Higgins returns this season alongside newly acquired defensemen Brock Sorenson and Alex Crepinsek. The NLL's leader in faceoff wins, Trevor Baptiste, has re-signed for a second season with the Wings, along with Blaze Riorden, Isaiah Davis-Allen, Liam Byrnes and Kyle Marr each earning contract extensions.
