Philadelphia Union Trade Midfielder Kyle Nakazawa to LA Galaxy

Chester, Pa. (February 1, 2012) - Philadelphia Union today announced that the club has traded midfielder Kyle Nakazawa and a 2013 natural second round draft pick to the LA Galaxy in exchange for an international roster spot. The Union are now permitted to have up to nine international players on their roster.

A California native, Nakazawa was selected by the Union in the third round (33rd overall) of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. Nakazawa played in 22 games this past season, including 14 starts, scoring one goal and adding three assists in 1,208 minutes. In his first two seasons, Nakazawa has accumulated 2006 minutes played over 36 appearances and 22 starts.

The Union open up the 2012 season on March 12 with a nationally televised game against Portland at 9:30 p.m. EST. The club then returns home to PPL Park on Sunday, March 18 to face the Colorado Rapids at 4:00 p.m.
