
Philadelphia Union Return Home to Face New England

Chester, Pa. (March 11, 2013)- Philadelphia Union return home to Pennsylvania after earning their first win in 2013 against the Colorado Rapids, a match postponed a day due to blizzard warnings in Denver. The Union will train this week for a game against New England Revolution Saturday, March 16 at PPL Park at 5 p.m. ET, as the club hosts Irish Night, featuring entertainment, special food, drinks and games honoring Irish heritage. The match will be broadcast on The Comcast Network and Univision Deportes Network.
Philadelphia Union's weekly radio program, "The 90th Minute," on CBS Sports Radio 610 kicks off its second season on Tuesday, March 12 at Chickie's and Pete's in Northeast Philadelphia. The show, hosted by veteran television personality and current Union executive Carl Cherkin, Philadelphiaunion.com editor Kerith Gabriel and Union defender Chris Albright, will be broadcast from Chickie's and Pete's on Roosevelt Boulevard for the first seven weeks before rotating to different Chickie's and Pete's locations for seven week increments.
On Wednesday at 7:00 p.m., The Philadelphia Union Foundation will hold its inaugural "Cocktails & Cleats" gala at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. The gala will feature over 400 guests, including the entire Philadelphia Union team and Technical Staff, and will underscore the Foundation's vision of "Building Relationships and Changing a Generation."
Philadelphia earned their first three points of the year on Sunday, as the team defeated the Colorado Rapids 2-1 at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The match, originally scheduled for Saturday, was postponed due to blizzard warnings in the Denver area. After Amobi Okugo put the team ahead in the 34th minute with his first goal in MLS, Colorado responded in the 68th with a goal from Jaime Smith. But the game-winner came on a score from forward Jack McInerney in the 79th minute, earning the club its first win of the year.
